• 3 cups thin beaten rice (poha)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 to 2 green chilies finely chopped
  • 4 to 6 curry leaves
  • 2 table sp. roasted chana dal
  • 1 table sp. turmeric powder
  • 1 table sp. unsalted peanuts
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • A pinch of citric acid crystal
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste


Wash the Poha for a minute under running water. Strain it. In a pan, put oil and mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add green chilies, curry leaves, unsalted peanuts, roasted Chana dal and turmeric powder & put it on fire for a minute. Add Poha to the mixture & mix well. Cook for a minute or two. Add sugar, citric acid & salt & mix well. Poha is ready to serve. You can add carrots, peas, capsicum finely cut if you want to make it healthy.
